The Omega Witch Character Introductions: Damian Takuya
Hi All,
I’m back with Damian Takuya who is a big part of this story as well. In fact, if you haven’t read The Omega Witch and you want that surprise factor, it’ll be in your best interest to avoid this introduction entirely. There are absolutely no ways to avoid spoilers in this case. If you're good with that, let’s go ahead and get started.
Damian means: to tame, and Takuya means: pathfinder. Essentially, that’s exactly who he becomes for Maximus Aaron who has failed to find his fated mate, time and again, through countless rebirths, only to be denied. Or at least, that’s what he thinks.
Maximus, however, doesn’t give into his baser needs or entertain the thought that his goddess would go back on her word. He doesn’t take a mate and entirely engages his days and nights in solitude. As lonely as it is for him and as much as he endures with this chip on his heart, he does it. He waits. He knows about Kristoph’s story and wants to behave properly in the event that Selene’s promise reaches him. It wouldn’t be fair to his grace’s gift if he didn’t. But the pain of living his long lives without his partner only to restart and deal with it again devastated him.
As time goes on, Maximus grows tired of the charade. He believes there’s something wrong with him and that’s why Selene was still withholding. Without another shred of patience for this, he engaged his Alpha, splitting his trinity and the balance they once achieved into pieces before Alignak. Maximus completely believed that his Alpha was to blame and so he gave up his Alpha to the god of the moon, not goddess Selene, his creator, at sunset.
Within the lore of this book, there are notes on how sunrise and sunset are the blinding hours. It’s where both the world and all of its inhabitants are found or left behind. The sun’s light at natural eye level, also known as the horizon, breaks the bond of the all knowing gods and goddesses. In reference to the time of day that Maximus rids himself of his Alpha, Alignak, the Inuit god of the moon, who is also known to slow down motion and other specific events, is the one responsible for making sure this transaction is carried out. In doing so, Maximus is broken down from the Alpha he once was, giving Alignak the ultimate decision of who would get his Alpha.
While the decision hadn’t been made another was. Maximus ceased to exist but was reborn as Damian Takuya, a Beta. Whereas the Alpha Maximus once was, became less. His size and brawn halved. What was left of him physically indicated his first coming as Damian Takuya, making him twenty-four when Vivian catches his attention.
What I do need to make sure is clear here is that Damian and his wolf Takuya are not the halves versions of Maximus and Aaron. Damian and Takuya are the split being of Maximus himself. His wolf Aaron takes a huge hit with Maximus’ decision. Taking his Alpha away reduces his size and removes Aaron from his life. Both his Alpha and Aaron have been collected for another being’s rebirth, and I bet you can’t guess who collects him…
Alignak gives Aaron and his Alpha to Alexander while Selene is still blinded, expecting him to behave better because Maximus was able to for lifetimes. This leaves a chip on Aaron’s shoulder and his Alpha doesn’t care who’s body he’s in, he’s driven to find his mate just as Damian Takuya is, if not before him, just out of spite.
Damian Takuya is a good man though. He watches out for Vivian and lets her take the lead. Her project mattered to him but she mattered more. Being a Beta changed things for him. And, her work was changing her too. It made it hard for Damian to be sure Vivian was his fated mate and so through trial and error, even masked desperation, he let his name mean something to her first.
His Beta is who helps him connect with her and the moment a piece of her trinity needs him, he knows.
And with that, I can’t go much further with his internal struggle thereafter without spoiling all of it.
Next up, Lilith.
Until then, happy reading!
