TLOTAO Character Introductions: Kayla

Unlike my other stories, we get right into Kayla’s background. She uses it as an anchor when she wakes up from her nightmares. This is a strategy that even I’ve used growing up, to remind myself that the nightmare isn’t real, that it won’t be real, and that I’m in control. While there is a lot that she’s gone through, the purpose is to get the reader caught up before diving into her day.

Kayla’s days are full. She’s an entrepreneur and owner of the legendary machine shop, Kayla’s Mechanics. Over the years she’s had it ingrained in her subconscious that being on the offensive and staying alone would ultimately keep her safe. At some point even that mentality breaks and she’s open to making friends. Those she lets in ultimately become the family she never had and Kayla finds herself only buckling down more for them.

Her behavior doesn’t match up to what an Omega is known for, and because of it, she’s confused for an Alpha despite very clearly being an Omega. Her friends, made family Chyanne and Roxi, find it equal parts exciting as it is exhausting, but not even that stops them from staying with her.

Kayla’s mental stability is yanked out from under her when she meets her fated mate. It makes her question everything. She lashes out and reels it in all while trying to continue to run her shop and fulfill her dreams.

Kayla dreams of having a real home but not before her sisters. That Alpha part of her wants her sisters to live comfortably since they’ve brought such comfort to her over the years. She’s saved for most of it, but getting into a prestigious car show proves to be the step she needs to set the project in motion.

Only, life strikes once more, pulling her back into the nightmares of which she visits nightly. Can Kayla’s Alpha-Omega fight her way out of this one? Or will her family take on that responsibility and set her life straight, once and for all?
